Change or close an event
Before changing an event, consider the people already planning to attend. Some changes are only available before the event ends; others remain possible afterward. Check the explanation shown if an option is unavailable.
Change a published event
A published event’s schedule can be changed before it ends, including while it is in progress. Check the start, end and timezone together. Schedule changes generate notices for eligible Going guests; the message history helps you review the recorded change. Do not assume everyone has already seen the new time.
You can change location details before the published event ends. You can edit its description until seven calendar days after it ends, using the event’s timezone. If another change is unavailable, read the explanation shown rather than putting conflicting details elsewhere.
After a meaningful change, review the participant-facing page. If a clarification is needed, use an organizer message while messaging remains available. Do not promise that existing calendar entries on everyone’s devices will update automatically.
Cancel or archive
You can cancel a published event before it ends. Guests can no longer respond, and the event is shown as cancelled. Cancellation emails are not guaranteed to reach every guest. Do not assume everyone has seen the news.
You can archive a cancelled event, or a published event after it ends. Participants can then no longer open it in the usual way. Organizers can still find it in management, and creators may still find it in their history where allowed. Archiving a cancelled event can also stop cancellation emails that have not yet been sent. Keep that in mind before archiving.
Delete a draft or reuse an event
An unpublished draft can be permanently deleted. Read the confirmation. This action cannot be undone. Published-event cancellation and archiving are not the same as deleting a draft.
Duplication creates a new draft without copying guests. Review the new schedule, access and content before publishing it.
