Create and present a group

Create a group to introduce it to others and organize activities with your team. Creating a group is not available to every account. If you do not see the option, you can still join an existing group and take part in its activities.

Give people a clear introduction

Choose a recognizable name and a description that explains who the group is for and what participants can expect. The group’s profile and appearance can include a logo, banner and design choices. Use images you are entitled to share, and avoid putting private contact details or confidential information in a public presentation.

The owner controls changes to the group’s name and description. Some changes, such as the name or custom address, can be subject to a waiting period. Read the current restriction shown by BenOui! rather than repeatedly trying the same change.

A custom address makes the group easier to share. Changing it can make the former address stop working, so update links you have distributed. Choose the group’s default language for its presentation and communications where applicable; this is separate from a visitor’s current interface language.

Choose how people gain access

Choose whether the group is public or private. For joining, choose among the options offered: joining directly, requesting approval or being added by the team. In a private group, people must be approved or added by the team.

Someone with the link to a private group may still see its basic introduction. Do not put confidential information in that introduction.

Keep the presentation useful

Review the group page after changes. Keep the description and image up to date. Group presentation does not replace the date, place and conditions of each event.
